The best place to stop and smell the roses is by far Tyler, Texas! Did you know that 20% of the country’s rose bushes come from Tyler? That’s why the east Texas city is known as the “Rose Capital of the U.S” and is also home to the annual Texas Rose Festival, held each October.
The best time to see Tyler’s famous roses is in mid-October, during the Rose Festival when the flowers are in full bloom. Our favorite place to “stop and smell the roses” is at the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden, where 38,000 rose bushes span 14 acres, making it the largest rose garden in the nation. This is fun for all age groups and families. You can enjoy ceremonial events like the Queen’s Coronation, Ribbon Cutting and Rose Presentation, the Queen’s Tea, and the Rose Parade – all amidst a backdrop of brilliant roses!
All flower enthusiests and lovers MUST come check it out while in Texas! Flowers not your thing? You can check out what other things there are to do in Tyler as well!
