Do You Heart West Texas?

Tell us (or CBS’s The Early Show) why you love west Texas. From now until August 4th The Midland CVB, Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce and Texas Mountain Trail Region has created a 15-second commercial airing on a jumbo-tron in Manhattan, promoting west Texas as the travel destination. So get out the camera, the Midland CVB wants you to take a photo of you (or someone else) holding a sign saying “My favorite thing about west Texas” in front of well…your favorite thing and submit it to the producer of The Early Show. Is this a competition? kind of. Are we prideful? Yes. Only in Texas!

Travel lite.

Ah, packing. You’re either a planner or you do it last minute. Either way, thinking out each outfit is just way too much trouble. Cotton dresses are THE summer essentials. Good for any vacation activity and easy to pack. Always stick to solid colors (I prefer dark). Don’t forget to pack lots of accessories. You make so many outfits with the same base item just add some jazzy jewelry. Packing list:

Cotton Dresses

Sandals

Accessories

Now your set for Galveston!

Tell us your must-have item to pack for a vacation.

Girls Trip- Austin

You say it every year, “We should plan a girls trip.” At the moment it seems like the best idea ever. Then it never happens. For something that is easy, fun and inexpensive we recommend a girls shopping trip with Whimsey. Mandy and Meredith Cloud have put their love for vintage finds, home décor and getting a bargain, together and formed their shopping trip company, Whimsey. They’ll take you and your girlfriends on a shopping excursion around Austin (and we’re not talking about just going to the mall). They’ll bring the snacks and the drinks, you bring your friends. The Cloud girls know all the vintage stores, flea markets, shops that Keep Austin Weird.

House. Wine. McAllen. Fort Worth.

If you haven’t traveled to Fredericksburg to experience House. Wine., sorry. You’re really missing out. They’ve become such a big deal, the swanky wine bar/home décor store mix is expanding. The first being McAllen followed by Fort Worth.

Welcome to Hither and Yonder.

Texas is (in our opinion) the best state. People who live here love their Texas country and people who have been here know we are passionate (not crazy) about everything that goes on in Texas. The thing is, there is so much to do in Texas we want to tell you about everything from Cadillac Ranch to Fashion at the Park in Dallas. So stay tuned we will go hither and yonder with our travels and topics but for the most part you’ll find ideas on:

What to do this weekend

Travel topics and tips

And of course shopping.

Please share events, tell me what you like to do, where to travel, shop and share your pictures. I’d love to post about your Texas travels and tell people to get on the road, again!
