How to Do Round Top Antiques Fair

Are you decorating a new space? Or redesigning your current one? Do you want to find special pieces…but make your money stretch as far as possible? Our friends at Whimsey are booking trips to shop all the antiques in Round Top.

“Each trip will start with the Marburger Farm Antique Show – over 400 dealers from 39 states and abroad with truckloads of the best antiques from both sides of the Mississippi.
In the afternoon, we’ll head down the road to the fields of Warrenton – approximately a mile of vintage and antique treasures sprawling under tents and booths.”

For all you Vera Bradley connoisseurs, the only stand alone store in Texas is now open at Watters Creek in Allen. I’m loving the Hope Garden pattern. Ten percent of Vera Bradley’s net proceeds from sales of the lovely Hope Garden pattern is donated to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer and other breast cancer projects and services. So start shoppin’.

Nordstrom Rack draws a morning crowd

This morning, hundreds of people made the dash to the opening of the new Dallas location of The Rack, and the results are good. When the clock struck 9 o’clock the doors opened. The employees cheered and clapped their hands as the manager personally greeted everyone to the brand new store (Nordstrom truly is all about the customer).  I just received this picture from the morning event. While we don’t know who won the 90 second $1000 shopping spree, we want to know who you are. Tell us what you bought!

Nordstrom Rack Dallas Sweepstakes!

Thursday is the GRAND opening of Nordstrom Rack in Dallas (just down the road from our offices, yes!). If you haven’t heard, you’ve got to be there early…like 8:30 a.m. early. One person will win a $1000 shopping spree, but you only have 90 seconds to shop that morning, one time only. I know, this is a lot of pressure but I have full confidence that the women of Dallas will have no problem swiping up $1000 worth of goods in 90 seconds. I’m just sayin’. But if you’re not picked-no worries- the first 1000 customers will receive a Nordstrom Rack tote bag as a gift with their opening day purchase. And, It won’t to be hard to find something to buy. See you there!

Hemp Hand Protector: Two Thumbs Up

There are a lot of women at the office of ShopAcrossTexas and beauty products are almost a daily discussion topic. Today, we’re lovin’ The Body Shop’s Hemp Hand Protector for extremely dry skin. Since the weather in Texas is unpredictable and it can go from dry to humid and 33 degrees to 65 degrees all in the same day our skin freaks out and drys out. Hemp Hand Protector isn’t new to The Body Shop but it’s a favorite. Oh, and did I mention it’s on sale? The 3.3 oz was $18.50 and is now $9! Getchasome.

Free Beer on Southwest-March 17th

Breaking news by following Southwest on Twitter! On March 17th, Dallas-based Southwest Airlines will give out a free beer (one per person who is of age) in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. If you don’t have travel plans yet, you’re always welcome in Texas.

Cheers!

Lunch in Grapevine, TX

We lunched in Grapevine today at Into The Glass, located on the Historic Downtown Main Street. The quaint wine bar & cafe is a must when visiting Grapevine. My mouth is watering just thinking about the Brie & Chicken Nachos (with cranberry salsa) we nibbled scarfed on before lunch. The Chicken Salad (grilled chicken, grapes, pecans, tomatoes, apples, topped with brie) is the owner’s grandmother’s recipe which is too good to pass up. Other items to try; The House Burger with Havarti cheese, delicious. The Shrimp Salad (jalapenos and avocado included!) has a kick and one of the specials was Trout (ruby red- it looked like salmon) topped with fresh berries. Oh, and the iced tea is mighty fine as well. We left full and happy. Thank you, Grapevine.
