Each May, Quiet Valley Ranch transforms into a musician’s paradise when more than 30,000 people from around the world gather for the 18-day-long Kerrville Folk Festival. Don’t let the name fool you though. The festival welcomes many more genres than just folk music, including bluegrass, acoustic rock, blues, country, jazz and Americana.
Founded in 1972, the Kerrville Folk Festival provides a stage for emerging artists. Big names such as Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lucinda Williams and Nancy Griffith all played Kerrville early in their careers.
There are scheduled performers on the main stage each day of the festival, but impromptu jam sessions are known to pop up at anytime around a campfire or anywhere else people are willing to listen
You can also take a break from the concert scene with canoe trips on the Guadalupe and Hill Country bike rides or workshops in songwriting, blues guitar and harmonica.
