Grapevine—The Christmas Capital of Texas—is the perfect destination anytime!
Where to Stay
If resorts are your thing, and let’s be honest, they’re everyone’s thing—Grapevine is the place to go! The Gaylord Texan, which boasts 4.5 acres of lush gardens, a winding pool, and a stunning winter wonderland at Christmas time is perfect. If you are looking for something more family oriented, Great Wolf Lodge is an excellent choice with an indoor water park that your kids won’t be able to get enough of! However, if neither of those suits your fancy, the Hilton DFW Lakes is another great choice located on lakeside property that’s super convenient to all the best shopping!
Where to Shop
Grapevine Mills is a great spot to start your shopping escapade! With stores like Last Call by Neiman Marcus and Saks OFF 5th, we know you will find something you love like we did. If you happen to bring some kiddos with you, then you’ll want to be sure to take them to Legoland and Sea Life Aquarium also located conveniently in the mall.
To get all the supplies you’ll need for your next outdoorsy adventure, be it stargazing or a weekend on the lake, head to Bass Pro Shops! This is more than a store; it’s an experience with a 30,000 gallon aquarium, shooting gallery, Uncle Buck’s Brewery and Steakhouse, and Fudge and Nut Cart—yes, daily homemade fudge!
The shopping on Main Street is a must if you are in Grapevine. Red Shed Antiques is an especially charming shop just off Main Street in Historic Downtown Grapevine. You can always find a hidden treasure, or two, here.
Another great place to find unique pieces for your home is Vetro Glass Blowing. This store has all hand-blown glass pieces that will leave you in awe and definitely wanting more! Be sure to check their website ahead of time to see if you can catch a class and learn how to make a hand-blown piece of your own!
What to Eat
Along with great shopping, Grapevine also has great food! We love Mi Dia From Scratch to finish off our day. Sipping margaritas made from one of the one hundred different tequilas on the tequila tower while sitting on the patio is the perfect way to end any day!
If you are a wino, Winewood Grill is a great place for lunch or dinner! With a wine list a mile long and a great steak to pair it with, you can’t go wrong. If you find yourself there on a weekday, then be sure to check out their happy hour from 3 – 7pm.
Before you leave Grapevine you will want to stop and refuel with some of the best comfort food this side of the Mississippi at Old West Café. You can’t beat a place that serves banana-nut pancakes with peanut butter syrup all day, so don’t forget to stop by and try it out!
What to do
Some events to check out online before you book your trip include Main Street Fest every May. This annual festival is centered around craft beer and is held in Historic Downtown Grapevine to create three days of fun that hopefully you will remember! Another popular event is Grapefest that takes place every September and gives you another excuse to take a three-day weekend to drink wine—what could be better? And of course if you plan to go during the holidays, there are plenty of fun things to do since Grapevine is the Christmas Capital of Texas.
