If you’re looking for an “adults-only” activity, spend some time scoping out McKinney’s growing microbrewery scene. Recently named to Livability.com’s list of “Best Beer Cities” in the US, McKinney was nominated for its craft brewers Tupps Brewery and Franconia Brewing Co.
Tupps Brewery offers 11 different beers on tap and hosts events such as yoga and craft beer, bingo night and even a Festival of Darkness. When you visiting this brewery, you will be immersed in the old Texas feel and experience the past when things were slow and life was not so complicated. They offer free brewery tours every Saturday at 12:30 p.m. as well as live music from 1-4 p.m. When visiting on Friday and Saturday make sure you come hungry because they always have food trucks onsite!
Franconia Brewing Co. has a tradition of naturally brewing authentic German Style Bier using the purest ingredients. They offer eight beers year round, with six seasonal beers and five specialty beers with four of them being created for their 10th anniversary. A brewery tour is offered every Saturday at 11 a.m. and takes about two hours.
