Whether you’re looking for a quick day-cation or a way to escape for a week or two, the lake is the way to go! Relax with family and friends at Son’s Island at Lake Placid. Located in Seguin, Texas, this beautiful three-and-a-half acre island is the perfect paradise that you’ve been looking for. Shrouded by hundreds of cypress and pecan trees, this is truly a magical and secret getaway that will transport you to your island fantasy. With 40 open-air cabanas, it will feel like you’re laying out on the beach in Hawaii.
Each cabana features a picnic table, a hammock, lounge chairs, BBQ pit, comfortable seating, a bar top and stools, and a private swimming and fishing dock. You simply must have one to fully embrace the island way. Lay under the shade of the trees, in the sun, or float on a paddleboard to catch some rays. Grab an oar and kayak around the island or get your cardio in for the day and peddle a hydro bike instead. If you own a boat or waverunner you are more than welcome to bring it along too.
In the event that you ever feel the need for a private island, Son’s Island is happy to help. The entire island, yes the whole island, can be rented for private parties and celebrations. After all that vacation therapy it is only natural to move on to some very much needed retail therapy and what better way to get that fix taken care of than with a shopping trip to San Antonio. Now that you know what you’re missing, you better pack your bags and grab your cabana. The island life is waiting.

Barley and Board, Denton’s first brewpub, quickly caught our attention and that of the locals with their authentically styled pub and restaurant, located on the historic Downtown Square. Incorporating Denton’s history in the pub, their building’s brick walls from the 1925 Texas Building are proudly displayed, while the atmosphere is laced with rooted industrial era style in their reclaimed wood bars and tables, distressed leathers, and metal light fixtures. Their menu was created by Executive Chef Chad Kelley, former chef for Meddlesome Moth, which offers “New American Cuisine,” and an array of small and large plates reflecting the style and taste of the pub. With over 30 beers on tap, including in-house brews, as well as crafted cocktails and wines, there is always something new to satisfy your craving for adventure. Read more…
