The Shop Across Texas team walks into hundreds of stores every year. One of the great joys of this job is to walk into stores across the state and see the creativity thriving in the retail world. Having a great eye is not exclusive to NYC. We see it in cities and towns, large and small across all categories in our great state

This is one of our passions: Best Retail in a Small Town. These winners are more than towns with great stores. They are places with great customer service and a genuine interest in you and what you’re shopping for. In these cities, if they don’t have it, they will send you down the street to a competitor

Waxahachie

Shopping on the Square in Waxahachie is like stepping into another era. The town is full of one of the largest preserved collections of turn-of-the-century architecture in the state. The square is not a tourist destination. The locals are there. The restaurants are good. And the shopping is original and unexpected.

There is a good selection of antique malls, home décor and women’s fashion. And you can’t leave town without visiting the Webb Gallery! Read more about what to see and do in Waxahachie and where to shop.

Fredericksburg

With charming bed and breakfasts, great boutique shopping and fantastic wineries, Fredericksburg is one of the state’s top destinations. Their retail line-up could go toe to toe with any city in the state. And the culinary options are mouthwatering! The art gallery line-up is worth the trip alone. Find out more about Fredericksburg.

Tyler

Home of the Tyler Rose and its namesake festival, this one-of-a-kind city serves up the best of two worlds: the charm of a small southern town and the sophistication of a big city. You will find a surprisingly well-edited selection of womenswear boutiques, plus upscale home decor and antiques. A perfect weekend getaway awaits with great shopping, fine dining, golf, and wine tours. Find out more about Tyler.
