Once known as the street with rent-by-the-hour motel rooms, South Congress (known as SoCo) has become an Austin shopping staple. With a view of the state capitol and downtown Austin, SoCo has a variety of favorite shops such as the original Lucy in Disguise, By George and Allens Boots and more. A wide boulevard south of Downtown, this street captures the Austin vibe perfectly. Tip: On the first Thursday of the month, SoCo is filled with live music, beer and open-door shops, almost like a mini-festival.
