2023 September Events in Texas
It’s nearly September in Texas which means fall is around the corner, the kiddos are back in school, and we can almost taste the famous State Fair corny dogs. So mark your calendars and grab your friends, because we’re traveling the state in search of Texas’ best September events.
Frisco – Market at The Star
When: September 9
Prepare to shop ‘till you drop at one of our favorite shopping markets of the year! Hosted by Flea Style, the Market at the Star features a curated mix of fashion, jewelry, home decor, and lifestyle vendors that’ll have you finding goodies around every corner.
Grapevine – Grapefest
When: September 14-17
Sip on and celebrate your favorite wines at the 37th annual GrapeFest! Join us, along with every wine lover in the great state of Texas, for the largest wine festival in the Southwest. Experience classic wine tastings, show off your dance moves with live music and entertainment and of course, stomp some grapes! Bring the whole family and all of your friends for a wine-derful time.
Allen – Home & Garden Show
When: September 15-17
Is home improvement on your mind? The Home & Garden Show is the place to explore everything under one roof including new products, builders, contractors, building materials, pools, landscape displays, kitchenware, home accessories, and so much more. With countless exhibits with demos on products that will help you solve your home and garden dilemmas, there is no problem too big and no service too complicated.
Waxahachie – Antique Alley Texas
When: September 15-17
If you’re a lover of antiques, collectibles, and all things unique, listen up! Once a quarter, a nearly 100 mile stretch of FM roads and highways turn into a massive roadside flea market. You can find the official map and list of vendors here, but we suggest starting at Waxahachie. Along the road trail you’ll go through Maypearl, Grandview, Cleburne, Keene, Alvarado, and Venus.
Denton – Denton Blues Fest
When: September 15-17
Since 1998, this family-friendly festival has been providing the best blues acts around in Denton. See performances by Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers, Vanessa Collier, and 13 other acts. This free event has everything you need for a fun-filled weekend with great food, local vendors, arts and crafts and of course, the incredible blues music!
San Angelo – Lily Fest
When: September 16
Experience the largest lily display of any U.S. botanical garden at the San Angelo Annual Lily Fest presented by The International Water Lily Collection. Great for all ages, come enjoy great food and live music, and take a guided tour of the water lilies at Civic League Park!
Austin – Pecan Street Festival
When: September 16-17
Pe-CAN you believe that one of the largest and longest running art, crafts and music festivals is back?! The Pecan Street Festival in Austin is hosted by the Pecan Street Association, a non-profit organization that donates its proceeds to preserving historic 6th street. Grab a bite from over 30 food trucks, listen to tunes from nearly 50 musical performers and explore artwork all while helping give back to the Austin community.
Austin – City-Wide Vintage Sale
When: September 16-17
Ready for a treasure hunt? Look no further than Austin’s famed City-Wide Garage Sale. The vintage market is the perfect way to discover everything from home décor and retro knick-knacks to clothing and accessories.
Plano – HEB | Central Market Plano Balloon Festival
When: September 21-24
Come celebrate 40+ years of flying high at the Plano Balloon Festival! This four-day event offers entertainment, activities for the kids, sky-divers, firework shows, food options galore and of course… hundreds of colorful hot air balloons! This can’t-miss annual event in North Texas is a celebration of all things balloons that help give back to the community and local non-profits.
Tyler – East Texas State Fair
When: September 22 – October 1
Round up your crew and head to Tyler for The East Texas State Fair! The fair is committed to agricultural heritage, family fun, and serving the community. Get ready for fair favorite food, thrilling rides, livestock shows, and so many new attractions and exhibits!
Dallas – State Fair of Texas
When: September 29 – October 22
Drum roll please… It’s everyone’s favorite time of year! The State Fair of Texas is bigger and better than ever! 24 consecutive days of your favorite fried foods, exhibits, rides, petting zoos, shops, and so much more. Snap a pic with Big Tex, catch the Starlight Parade, chow down on a corny dog, or shop from the most unique vendors. There is so much to do, you’ll need a full day (maybe 2 or 3) to do it all!
