A Summer Getaway in Frisco

Whether it’s a nearby staycation or a weekend escape from the mundane, you will find there is truly something for everyone when you visit Frisco this summer.

Fun Family Getaway:
Westin Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club

If you’re looking for a fun family getaway, look no further than a stay at the Westin Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club. This destination offers luxurious rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness studio, an 18-hole golf course, and in-room spa treatments. Oh, and the hotel is pet friendly! But one of the best attractions is the outdoor pool. Complimented with waterfalls and the delicious Aqua Bar and Grill, you might just spend the whole weekend poolside. Make sure to arrive in time for their Friday night “Dive-In Movie” where they show a movie by the pool. Check out the full movie schedule here.

Sports Lover Dream Getaway:

The Star

Don’t worry, sports fanatics, we’ve planned your dream vacay, too. First, go ahead and book your stay at the Omni Frisco Hotel, just steps away from Ford Center at The Star. Enjoy dynamite food options plus easy access to The Star, headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. Want a firsthand look at the life of America’s team? Purchase tickets for a VIP Guided Tour of The Star and experience where the athletes train and work. Make sure to pack a football to throw with the kids outside on the turf. No matter what team you root for on Sunday night, this is a must-experience for all.

Continue your sports tour and purchase tickets to Frisco’s minor league baseball team, the RoughRiders, at Dr Pepper Ballpark, and professional soccer—er, futbol— team, FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.

Dr Pepper Ballpark

Wait…let’s go back a few steps. Have you seen the RoughRiders ballpark? It’s equipped with a lazy river in the outfield! This means you can float, eat a hotdog, and watch a ballgame all at once. This sounds like the best kind of multitasking.

No matter what your plans are, we always recommend making some time for a little (or a lot of) shopping. Stonebriar Centre is home to Athleta, H&M, Fossil, Nordstrom, the area’s only LEGO store, and much more. If you’re looking to shop local, make sure to take a stroll down Main Street. You’ll find coffee shops like Summer Moon and high-quality boutiques like Sunny Paige and Twisted Simplicity.

If you’re looking to find some live music, you’re in luck!  Every Friday night in June from 7:30 – 9:30 PM is Music in the Square at Simpson Plaza. Bring your blanket and a picnic, and get ready to enjoy some impressive (and free!) live music. Find the full entertainment schedule here.

Speaking of lunch, Frisco has an ample array of tasty options for the weekend. 5th Street Patio Café and BarnLight Eatery are both unique to Frisco and just the place for a midday recharge. Also, crowd favorites Da Mario and Zaytinya are the newest hot dinner spots when dining at The Star.

While you’re a few miles away from the big city lights and high rises, take advantage of a different kind of view. Starfest is a once-a-month free activity where guests gather to observe the planets and stars in the grand wide open spaces. The Star Parties are hosted every month on the second Saturday at Frisco Commons Park.

Complete your fun getaway weekend by flying. Yeah, you read that right. iFly in Frisco is an indoor skydiving experience and we think this might just be a hit for the whole family.
