Allen – Concerts by the Creek 

If you dig live music, Concerts by the Creek is a MUST this summer. Watters Creek at Montgomery Farms will be electric with an assortment of local musical entertainment that will soothe your soul. Grab dinner and drinks on one of the patios along the creek to do it right. 

 

Amarillo – “Texas” The Outdoor Musical

It doesn’t get more Texas than this, y’all – the TEXAS Outdoor Musical will blow you away with the story of settlers trying to make a living in the Texas Panhandle in the 1800s. May 29 – August 14, observe the magic that makes every Lone Star State resident proud. Pick up some authentic BBQ at the gorgeous Pioneer Amphitheater in Palo Duro Canyon State Park to completely immerse yourself in Texas culture. 

 

Frisco – RoughRiders Baseball Games 

Calling all sports fans – the Frisco RoughRiders are in it to win it! Watch the game from the stands or the stadiums famous lazy river. That’s right, you can float on a 3,000 square foot river without missing one second of your favorite sport. Luckily for you, there are still 20+ games happening this summer! Pearland – GeoTour

The new Pearland GeoTour will take you far and wide for an adventure that puts your geocaching skills to the test. Find the 30 hidden boxes (AKA geocaches) across the city, where you can exchange stories and objects from other hikers and adventures. Bandera – Flying L Guest Ranch

The Flying L Guest Ranch has more than 40 horses on property, a brand new water park—the Lone Star Lagoon, and an award-winning golf course. Daily horseback riding is offered, but for a more rustic experience, you can take the overnight horseback riding trip to the property’s hilltop gazebo to spend the night under the stars. Kids have no shortage of activities with crafts, lassoing, potato sack races, pony rides, archery and BB gun shooting. They won’t even miss their iPods.

 

Houston – NASA Space Camp

Three! Two! One! BLAST OFF! Have you ever wanted to study moon rocks, train like an astronaut, or learn how to fly a rocket ship into outer space? Well it’s your lucky day! The Space Center in Houston has summer camps for young, enthusiastic astronauts of all ages.

 

Round Top – The Painted Churches of Fayette County

There’s no more beautiful evidence of Texas’ rich Czech and German heritage than the four painted churches of Fayette County. The unassuming exteriors of these churches give way to lavishly decorated interiors you’d expect to find nestled in the streets of Europe.

 


Fort Worth – Stockyards National Historic District
Put on your boots and head to Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District for a Cowtown day of fun! Located in the heart of Fort Worth, the stockyards are your ticket into the Old West. Learn about the stories that shaped the town, and see the cultural sites that gave Fort Worth its legacy, including the Livestock Exchange Building and the Cowtown Coliseum.
