Black History Month is a time to honor past pioneers and contemporary leaders who continue to drive change. One meaningful way to show support is by visiting and supporting Black-owned businesses. Texas offers a variety of incredible establishments, and we’ve curated a round up to help you discover them, not just for February, but every month.
Dallas
- Val’s Cheesecake – Val’s Cheesecakes is a beloved Black-owned Dallas staple, serving up delicious, melt-in-your-mouth cheesecakes with unique flavors and toppings that keep customers coming back for more.
- Chocolate Secrets – Chocolate Secrets is a Black-owned gourmet chocolate shop in Dallas that offers live jazz music from Thursday to Saturday, 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Enjoy house-made chocolates, wine, charcuterie, and desserts while soaking in the cozy ambiance—perfect for a laid-back date night. Plus, they offer chocolate-making classes and a tea room for afternoon teas!
- Party Geenius – Party Geenius, founded in 2015 by Barbara Gee, is a Black-owned, female-founded party boutique and balloon bar located in Dallas, Texas. Originally an online stationery and greeting card store, it expanded in 2020 to offer a comprehensive range of modern party supplies, customizable balloon installations, and event planning services.
- Pressed Roots Salon – Pressed Roots is a Black-owned luxury blowout bar redefining hair care for textured hair, making every curl and coil feel celebrated. Founded by Piersten Gaines, it offers a fun, relaxing salon experience with expert stylists, complimentary drinks, and a commitment to hair health. There are 4 locations total: Dallas, Arlington, Plano and Houston.
- Indigo 1745 – This Black-owned boutique, located in the Bishop Arts District, offers a curated collection of clothing, accessories, and home goods that celebrate artistry and culture. Beyond their standout pieces, they showcase incredible, one-of-a-kind finds you won’t see anywhere else.
- Soirée Coffee Bar – Soirée Coffee Bar, located in Dallas’ Trinity Groves, is a Black-owned establishment that blends coffee, culture, and community. They offer premium coffee, jazz-inspired ambiance, and a menu featuring dishes from Black vendors, aiming to be a hub for Black excellence.
- The Plant Project – The Plant Project, founded by Bree Iman Clarke, is the first Black woman-owned plant shop in Texas, located in Dallas’ Uptown area. Beyond offering a diverse selection of plants, they foster community engagement through workshops, events, and collaborations, aiming to create a space where everyone can grow together.

Austin
- New Origin Shop – New Origin Shop, founded by Sierra Lewis in 2017, is an independently owned boutique in Austin, Texas, offering a curated selection of handmade bags, accessories, fiber jewelry, home decor, and more. The shop prioritizes products with low environmental impact while making contemporary statements, supporting independent makers and small businesses.
- Reverie Books – Reverie Books is a queer-owned independent bookstore in South Austin’s ’45 neighborhood, emphasizing social justice and community building. Founded by Thais Perkins in 2021, it offers new and used books in a cozy space designed for learning, inspiration, and inclusivity.
Richardson
- Fusion Vibes Kitchen + Lounge – Founded by Will Aiyeojenku in Richardson, Texas, this Black-owned restaurant and lounge offers a fusion of Nigerian, American, and Caribbean cuisines. Inspired by Aiyeojenku’s late mother, the establishment aims to present Nigerian food in a unique way by blending it with other culinary cultures, providing customers with a distinctive dining experience.
- Grow Me Coily Beauty Supply – This Black-owned beauty supply store located in Richardson, TX, offers a variety of hair care products, including shampoos, conditioners, and strengthening elixirs designed to prevent hair loss.
Farmers Branch
- BLACKLIT – BLACKLIT, founded by educator and diversity advocate Nia-Tayler Clark, is dedicated to closing the literacy gap and increasing representation by highlighting Black authors and entrepreneurs. They offer a monthly subscription box featuring books by Black authors, apparel, and products from Black-owned businesses, aiming to promote unity and celebrate Black culture.

Frisco
- Cookie Society – This family-owned Texas bakery is renowned for its quarter-pound gourmet cookies. They offer a variety of flavors inspired by classic desserts and childhood treats, with options for nationwide shipping, local storefronts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and catering services.
Allen
- The Space on West Main – This is a historic 1920s venue offering an intimate setting for weddings and events. Owner Stephanie Dreamer, a seasoned wedding photographer, designed the space to focus on meaningful, personalized celebrations, featuring exposed brick, vintage ceiling tiles, and eclectic chandeliers.
Houston
- Wanderstay – Wanderstay Boutique Hotel, established in 2023 by Deidre Mathis, is Houston’s first Black-owned boutique hotel, offering a unique adults-only experience with 10 uniquely themed rooms. Located in the vibrant East End neighborhood, the hotel provides guests with a blend of comfort, style, and exceptional service, making it a memorable destination for both business and leisure travelers.
- Privy Drip Spa – Privy Drip and Aesthetics, founded by Kiara Craft and co-founded by Felecha Williams, is a luxury medical spa in Humble, Texas, specializing in IV therapy, aesthetic treatments, and weight loss services. Their offerings include personalized IV drips, vitamin injections, facials, and hair restoration, all delivered by experienced healthcare professionals in a comfortable spa setting.
