Originally opened in 1930 as part of a hotel development, the three-story Paramount Theatre with Spanish colonial revival architecture was saved from demolition by the residents of Abilene. After a heartfelt renovation, the theatre reopened in 1987 and is now a center for classic and art films and the performing arts. Architectural highlights include two grand staircases, hand-blown glass chandeliers and a ceiling covered in drifting clouds and twinkling stars.
