Texas Women’s University in Denton is home to the Texas First Ladies Historic Costume Collection, which consists of forty-two gowns owned and worn by First Ladies of Texas. Seventeen of the forty-two gowns are on display at one time, rotating throughout the year. Gowns in the collection date as far back as the 1800s through present day and include dresses worn by Laura Bush, First Lady of Texas and of the United States of America.

Barley and Board, Denton’s first brewpub, quickly caught our attention and that of the locals with their authentically styled pub and restaurant, located on the historic Downtown Square. Incorporating Denton’s history in the pub, their building’s brick walls from the 1925 Texas Building are proudly displayed, while the atmosphere is laced with rooted industrial era style in their reclaimed wood bars and tables, distressed leathers, and metal light fixtures. Their menu was created by Executive Chef Chad Kelley, former chef for Meddlesome Moth, which offers “New American Cuisine,” and an array of small and large plates reflecting the style and taste of the pub. With over 30 beers on tap, including in-house brews, as well as crafted cocktails and wines, there is always something new to satisfy your craving for adventure. Read more…
