San Marcos’ very own landmark Texas Music Theater, originally opened in 1941, has worn a variety of entertainment hats over the years. It now functions as a live music venue, outfitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and serves as the backdrop for the weekly television series Texas Music Scene. Hosted by nine-time Grammy winner Ray Benson, the show highlights the young artists and legends that help define Texas’ great music scene. Aired on local affiliates throughout the Lone Star state, Texas Music Scene has featured performances from big names like Jack Ingram, Pat Green and Kevin Fowler.
