Listed in the top 100 most photographed structures in the state of Texas, Ellis County Courthouse is part of Texas’ 225 historic courthouses. Construction on the historic courthouse was completed in 1879 making it one of the grandest old county courthouses in the southwest.  This “Gingerbread” residential architecture combined with a picture perfect courthouse on the town square has made it a romantic backdrop for several movies including “Bonnie and Clyde” and the Academy Award Winning “Tender Mercies.”
