Mountains and Basins Region

Taking a short trip to Big Bend National Park? Big Bend consists of three ecosystems, which definitely take a lot of time to explore it, but it can be done in a two-day period. The park offers camping and lodging options. The first day, you will want to get an early start to be sure to hike the canyon and the Chisos Mountains, following the Lost Mine Trail of 4.8 miles. Nighttime is beautiful here, where you can see every star light up the sky, as there are no city lights to take away from the beauty. Your second day can consist of a six-mile hike to lead you to the hot springs for a dip.

Central Plains

Austin is full of hipster and trendy places to visit with a multitude of murals to serve as photo ops in the city. The murals are surrounded by local hotspots and can be found in a mural list on Pinterest. If looking for more of a nature experience, Lady Bird Lake offers hiking and biking trails plus paddling, fishing, and rowing.
