Some days, it feels like we need to be drenched with a fire hose. Thankfully the Fire Museum of Texas is the next best thing. Explore a collection of antique engines, drive the fire truck simulator, and even get suited up in real-life firefighter uniforms. Did we mention, the world’s largest working fire hydrant is located right outside the museum? Your Instagram feed deserves this kind of content.
El Paso – Plaza Theatre
Whether you’re in the mood to jam the night away, LOL with the best comedians around, or catch a movie, the Plaza Theatre is the place to be. In fact, the world’s largest film festival dedicated to classic films, the Plaza Classic Film Festival, takes place at this theatre every summer. What are you waiting for? Fredericksburg – National Museum of the Pacific War
What better way to combat the Texas summer heat than with an engaging and unforgettable history lesson. The Fredericksburg museum is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and makes for the perfect daytime activity for the whole family (especially you history buffs out there!)
Lubbock – McPherson Cellars
Anytime is a good time a enjoy a glass of red, but exploring the Texas wines at McPherson Cellar‘s tasting room is one of our favorite summer activities. The McPherson family is known as one of the pioneers of the modern Texas wine industry with 40+ years of experience under their belt buckle.
Pearland – Grab a Glass at a Local Brewery
If you’re more of a beer kind of person, Pearland‘s local brewery Vallenson’s Brewing Company is just what you need. Located just outside of Houston, this is the perfect escape for H-Town foodies.

Nothing beats feeling the breeze behind your hair… unless of course it’s a Texas summer. So avoid the hot temperatures and try indoor skydiving at iFly in Frisco. No parachute, no jumping, but all the fun. The modern take on skydiving is perfect for anyone from 3 – 103.
Plano – Texas Pool
Okay fine, you caught us. This may not be an indoor activity, but nothing screams Texas summer like diving into a pool in shaped like the lone star state itself.
