Just a quick drive north up I-75 from Dallas, Allen is an outlet bargainista’s dream! Known throughout the metroplex for having some great shopping, cool restaurants, and plenty to do, Allen is the perfect destination for a quick weekend getaway!
Where to Stay
Take away the rush and have more time to sleep in by staying in the Hampton Inn & Suites—Dallas Allen or Courtyard Dallas Allen at the John Q Hammons Center. Both of these fabulous hotels are within walking distance of shopping, dining and entertainment. Courtyard Dallas is a two-minute walk from The Village at Allen’s shopping and boasts an indoor pool, perfect for the kiddos.
Where to Shop
Sale is our favorite four letter word, and sales and great prices are written all over the recently renovated Allen Premium Outlets, A Simon Center. From Kate Spade, to Levi’s to Tory Burch to the Nike Factory Store and more, this shopping outlet is sure to leave you with the best prices for your new wardrobe.
Situated on 52 acres full of village greens, interactive public art, dining options and stores for everyone in the family, the ambiance of Watters Creek makes it the perfect spot to spend the day. Shop boutiques like Anthropologie, Francesca’s, Gymboree and Willa Boutique, or pick up must-have accessories at Vera Bradley and Sunglass Hut. Stores like DSW and Jos. A. Bank make this shopping Mecca a must-visit.
The Village at Allen
The Village at Allen features shopping, entertainment and outdoor activities for the whole family. You could spend all day here shopping at stores like James Avery, HomeGoods, Cabela’s and so many more. Stop and eat at restaurants like Kelly’s At The Village, The Cajun Place or BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse.
Where to Eat
If you’re a Texan who takes Tex Mex very seriously (as we all should), we recommend you eat at one of the best Tex Mex places in Allen, Uncle Julio’s. You can expect to enjoy some made-from-scratch Mexican food in a fun, festive atmosphere. Be sure to grab an order of their sizzling fajitas and wash them down with a legendary “swirl” cocktail – the original frozen collision of Spain and Mexico combining a frozen margarita and frozen sangria.
We would be remiss not to mention Roman Cucina for some top-notch Italian food in Allen. Winding down with a glass of wine and some pepperoni garlic bread sounds like the perfect ending to any day.
Kelly’s At The Village (not to be confused with The Kelly Farm Burger Stand) has brisket nachos to die for! As if you needed any more convincing to check this place out, it also has a pretty lively nightlife scene and over 40 beers on tap.
Frogg Coffee Bar and Creperie, at Watters Creek, will you make you feel like you’re sipping coffee in a little café in Europe. The menu features artisan coffee, gourmet crepes, fresh salads, appetizers, fine wine and Texas beer. Sip and dine on the oversized patio overlooking the creek.
What to Do
The Allen Event Center has something going on nearly every weekend of the year. From concert to home shows, we are sure something exciting will be happening when you’re in town. Check their website ahead of time and plan to catch a concert or show while you’re in town!
The Hydrous at Allen Station
You don’t need a boat to go wakeboarding in this day-and-age. The Hydrous at Allen Station makes it possible to wakeboard in the middle of a metroplex with a cable park and a body of water. If you are not interested in getting in and getting wet, Hydrous provides sitting areas for observing flips and tricks (and major wipeouts).
Top Golf in Allen
Rain or shine, you can play golf any day at Top Golf in Allen. Teeing off from one of the many levels of the building and trying to get your ball into one of the many funnels on the field is a fun way to enjoy time with friends or family. The high tech and laid-back atmosphere gives even non-golfers confidence in their abilities. Top Golf staff even delivers food and drinks straight to your bay. After your game, don’t feel like you need to hurry off. Instead, enjoy time in the bar and restaurant.
