5 Sorority Recruitment Tips to Crush Rush
Each year, thousands of girls participate in sorority recruitment in hopes of finding a forever home and a group of young women to call their sisters. Several girls walk into the process with little to no information on what to expect. The process can be intimidating, especially as a college freshman trying to learn the campus, meet new people and get on a new schedule with your classes and extracurriculars. Fortunately, we have some tips that will ease those nerves and make the recruitment process an experience you can enjoy.
1. Be Yourself
It’s cliche, we know, but recruitment is a big decision and one only you can make. You don’t have to try to fit into a “top house” because everyone has a different meaning of “top”. In the end, you want to be in a house where you feel comfortable and can be yourself.
2. Ask Questions
Don’t view recruitment as a one-sided interview. You should be trying to get to know the house as much as they are trying to get to know you. Ask about the things that are important to you so you can have clarity when it’s time to make a decision.
3. Stock Your Bag
Make sure you have everything you need before you leave in the morning. Here are a few necessities: mints, snacks, water bottle, comfortable shoes, notebook and pen, umbrella, lip balm, hand sanitizer, and DEODORANT (trust us).
4. Plan Your Outfits
Recruitment is not the exact same for every college campus. Find the calendar for your college’s recruitment to learn what each day of rush will look like. From there, plan your outfits accordingly! It’s best to pick your outfits out in advance so you’re not stressing the night before.
5. Wear Comfortable Shoes
We HIGHLY recommend you wear comfortable shoes during sorority recruitment! A lot of walking (and running) is involved in the process, so you’re going to want to make sure you can feel confident and comfortable, especially in the Texas Heat.
